6 things that are normal during a threesome

Threesomes and sex, in general, can be a bit of everything. From weird to gross, hilarious to emotional, boring to exciting. Things happen in the heat of the moment that we often don’t have full control over. And as these things happen, it’s a really good reminder to know that seemingly uncomfortable stuff happens to everyone. The best way to approach anything that is weird or awkward is with a light heart and open mind. Being able to laugh and move on is an art that is easy to learn and key to keeping things fun.

Here are some of the weird things that happen during a threesome but that are totally normal, I promise.

1. Feeling Left Out

There's no way to escape this. Sex is something that is often addressed or experienced as a two-person activity, and because of this, sometimes people just don't know what to do. Some people struggle with how to attend to everyone's needs all at once, and there's bound to be a point at which one person is less engaged than the other two. The important thing is to not let this affect your morale or make you less enthused to take part. Either back off and wait your turn (it will come, I promise) or look for more creative ways to be involved.

2. Pubic Hair in Your Mouth

It’s happened to everybody. You’re going down on someone, you come up for air or are switching things up and in your big grin, you have a couple of pubic hairs in your teeth or stuck on your tongue. It’s not a big deal and you have two choices: politely remove them from your mouth or just ignore them and continue on—nobody will mind.

3. Farting—Both Kinds

First and foremost let’s talk about farts that come out of your butt during sex. While this can be very awkward and embarrassing, it’s also totally normal and really common. Think about it. You move around during sex. You eat at some point before sex. Of course you might fart. But the problem isn’t the farting, it’s actually how you react. Choose to laugh about it and keep going, instead of it ruining a sexy moment. The same goes for vagina farts, otherwise known as queefing—a result of air being pushed into a small wet space and then being pushed out, either because you move or because something is inside of you. Both types = totally normal!

4. Too Much Fluid or Not Enough

Depending on your body, how much lube you use or what type of sex you are having, some people get wet enough to soak through everything while others need a lot of lube. Both are normal and fine and any GGG should be open to whatever situation presents itself.

5. Limbs Everywhere

Between the three of you there are 12 arms and legs flailing around, and odds are that someone is going to get kicked or elbowed or fall off the bed at some point. You might panic because you don’t know where to look or touch next, and that’s ok. Go with what feels good, communicate with each other and keep a sense of humor about any mishaps.

6. Feeling Sexually Inferior

Some people click sexually more than others —that's just the truth about sex. So if you find that two of the people involved in a threesome are clicking more than others, this can lead to some complicated feelings. To combat this, simply try to communicate your desires so everyone can get on the page if they're not intuiting it on their own.

7. Laughing

After the above happening, it would be very hard not to laugh during a threesome. The thing is, many people laugh when they are uncomfortable regardless if something funny happened or not. This is ok. Just make it clear to your partners that it’s not them you are laughing at and mostly just something that comes out once in awhile.

This just the beginning of all the unexpected things that happen during threesomes, but that’s the fun of it. The best way to deal with them is to have an open mind and to be gentle on yourself and others. After all, you’re all just trying to have a good time.
