New York, NY - October 16, 2024 — Feeld, the dating app for the (emotionally, physically, and intellectually) curious, is launching its print publication, AFM: A Fucking Magazine, interchangeably known as A Feeld Magazine. The app’s decision to invest in print is a deliberate decision that reflects Feeld’s ultimate goal: to foster meaningful connections, both with others and oneself. A Fucking Magazine celebrates the diversity of contributors who are exploring their creativity and curiosity beyond digital spaces.
An Ode to Analog Connection in the Digital Age
With evolved approaches to romance and creativity, this singular magazine brings together a diverse community of voices with a 50/50 split of Feeld and non-Feeld Members as content contributors, showcasing a breadth of experiences and stories. Contributions from literary and creative minds like Juliana Huxtable, James Ivory, and Daphne Merkin explore the beauty of self-expression and the pursuit of happiness in all its forms.
“AFM is a part of our ever evolving vision for human connections. Feeld was founded with the intention to transcend conventional relationship frameworks and identities and embrace a more fluid, non-prescriptive approach to humans, to ourselves and how we connect. By exploring the tangible realm of analog in a variety of ways from our Feeld Socials to, now, AFM, we’re offering new, intimate yet expressive ways to offer perspective and inspire curiosity for ourselves and others," said Ana Kirova, CEO of Feeld.
Putting Romance Back into People's Hands - Literally
After joining and exploring Feeld, nearly 40% of Members choose to expand their bios, with “reading” remaining one of the top Interests expressed on the app. Feeld's embodiment of creative expression has led to the inevitable design of creative outlets like AFM for Members' and other inspired voices to reach new audiences.
That’s why AFM's intent is simple—read a fucking magazine.
Designed by Blok Design, an award-winning studio based in Toronto, AFM is a thoughtfully-crafted publication that was created to serve as an object of desire and a creative, safer space for people to embrace their innermost feelings. From stories, essays, and poems to photographs, AFM is about much more than dating; it’s about uplifting human experiences in a tactile, intimate form.
AFM will be available to purchase online from 16 October and distributed in US by Disticor and Antenne Books in Europe. All of the content from within the print edition will be publishing on a rolling basis to Feeld’s accompanying magazine website.
“AFM is not just a magazine; it’s the latest expression of Feeld's voice in the cultural conversation around relationships, sexuality, and desire. Turning the pages of a magazine should be a sensual experience that invites an encounter with something unknown—whether in relation to oneself or others,” explains Maria Dimitrova, co-editor of AFM and Director of Content at Feeld. “With AFM, we wanted to reflect the lived experiences of people on and around Feeld and offer a sense a continuity between digital and physical interactions; one rooted in thoughtful presence.”
“When we first started working together, I made the joke that we should call it “A Fucking Magazine,’” Haley Mlotek, the co-editor of AFM and Editorial Lead at Feeld, explained. “But the more we discussed it, the more we realized that it was the perfect name to express the fierceness of our intentions with this publication. We believe in printed matter, and we know that this is the perfect medium for collaborating with our Members.”
Launching AFM
AFM’s launch will include several events across New York City and London. Interested readers in NYC may also stumble upon Feeld’s custom-designed mobile newsstand, inspired by the city’s beloved street-side tradition. Stocked with AFM issues and playful treats such as flower bouquets and tongue-in-cheek postcards, the newsstand will bring AFM’s content to life and invite visitors to discover and connect. Visitors can find AFM contributors such as Jazmine Hughes, Allison P. Davis, Jard Lerebours, and Tony Thulatimutte, browse complimentary items such as matchbooks, condoms, and scratch-off lotto tickets, and purchase the inaugural issue of AFM.
Traveling to various high-traffic Brooklyn and Manhattan locations throughout October 16-20, the newsstand will debut at AFM’s launch party at Brooklyn's Public Records. The party will serve as a literary who’s who of AFM contributors, Feeld Members, and other notable personalities while AFM cover star, Juliana Huxtable, DJs the event.
“I discovered Feeld when someone said there was an app for people who don’t want to be on the other apps. Hell. No one that I know is lit on those apps,” said writer, artist, musician and AFM cover star, Juliana Huxtable. “I remember thinking ‘Feeld is more fun because it’s not like apps that can just be for sex on the go.’ It also isn’t just a dating app, it’s more mixy.”
The following Thursday, Oct 24th, AFM co-editors Maria Dimitrova and Haley Mlotek will host an intimate gathering at the Standard Hotel’s Library Lounge in London, where contributors Lucie Elven, Madeleine Dunnigan, and Ashani Lewis, will mingle with friends of Feeld over cocktails and short readings.
