Notes from Feeld

Feeld has opened a whole new world to me in terms of relationship norms. When I started using Feeld my boyfriend and I just broke up but through the platform I was able to connect with and learn from people who are in non-monogamous relationships. My experiences on Feeld were a big contribution to getting closer with my boyfriend again and defining our own relationship rules rather than something you learn from society. Besides that, Feeld made me explore some of the kinks and fantasies which until then I only had in my head.

I have met many wonderful people and connected with the queer, poly and kinky people of my city. I used to think kink or poly was just a sexual thing, but it's been refreshing to get a sense of community from connecting with people. I've started to see being poly and kinky as part of my identity, and not just behaviour through chatting to people and my new various partners. I have learnt a lot about what I like and don't like, and where that comes from.

Dating apps often felt like an imperfect solution to finding love/friends– having to learn how to represent yourself online is its own challenge, and obviously there’s pressure around fixing your identity, judgement, these kinds of things. I had mixed results with the more mainstream apps and at some point my friend suggested Feeld –I for sure appreciated the greater flexibility it allows in your presentation and who you look for. I’ve met a lot of people I don’t think I’d have met under any other circumstances, which has been very affirming – and that’s been just as much friendships as it has romantic connections.
