Layla McMurtrie

Layla McMurtrie is a Detroit-based journalist, storyteller, and community organizer whose work explores relationships, identity, community, and culture. She is the co-founder of The Vision Detroit, a grassroots nonprofit supporting emerging creatives through arts programming and storytelling initiatives, and the founder and editor of VANTAGE magazine. She also co-hosts PPL MOVIN, a talk show filmed on the Detroit People Mover that highlights everyday Detroiters and the people shaping the city. Across her work, she is interested in how people build connection, belonging, and meaning in their lives.
