How to pitch Feeld

May 10th, 2023

We’re looking for more freelance contributors. Is it you?

We’re looking for more editorial work to publish on our online magazine, and we know the Feeld community has a lot of valuable wisdom and experience to share. We’re hoping this could be both of our lucky days. Below you’ll find all of the practical guidelines and editorial parameters for how you can become a contributor to Feeld’s magazine.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • We especially want to publish work by Feeld members, so please let us know if you are one. All are welcome, but if you’ve ever been a member of or are considering joining Feeld, we’d love to know about it.
  • With that in mind, all contributors are offered a 6-month complimentary Majestic Membership as part of their compensation. You can also use this with your partnered accounts.
  • We welcome contributors of all experiences, and all mediums. Any content for the magazine can be pitched as a series of graphic designs, illustrations, text, or photography. If you’re interested in other mediums, like video or audio, email [email protected] with more details.
  • All guidelines are suggestions, and we’re always open to and encouraging of ideas that divert from the descriptions below. Surprise us!

Once you’re ready, you can email [email protected] with your pitches. Please be sure to include what medium of work you’re pitching, if it falls under one of the categories listed above, as well as a short paragraph explaining the particulars of your pitch (no need to include a draft, though if you have one ready to go, feel free to include it). Previously published materials that you feel are a good example of the kind of work you do are welcome but not mandatory.

Here’s what  we’ve been publishing on our magazine:

In A Week on Feeld, a Feeld member keeps a diary of their experiences during an uninterrupted week on Feeld. This series is intended to build an archive of what it’s really like to be a Feeld member. We’re looking for all kinds of members to write about all kinds of interactions and experiences. Submissions can be anonymous or under your own byline. Our preferred word count is maximum 1500 words, but can be as short as you’d like, and the starting rate is $500USD.

Feeld Conversations are interviews, Q&As, or profiles of individuals who you think are in Feeld’s orbit, whether for a shared mindset, relevant artistic and/or cultural work, or their specific insights into relationships, intimacy, sexuality, self-discovery, and creativity. We feature artists of all mediums, educators and experts in relevant fields, and enjoy reading conversations that are sweeping (a profile of a person that talks about their entire body of work), or precisely focused (an interview about a pivotal moment in a person’s life). Our preferred word count is between 1200-2000 words, and the starting rate is $600USD.

Feeld Guides are a series of informative and educational articles about a wide range of different topics that intersect with sex, sexuality, gender, health, wellness, community, labor, culture, and more. The crucial point is to provide some kind of tangible knowledge or suggested guidance in a generous, open manner about a subject of interest to the Feeld community. These articles involve a certain amount of research and reporting, whether that’s referencing trusted citations or performing interviews with relevant experts. Our preferred word count is between 800 to 1500 words, and the rate is $800USD.

Text Me When You’re Done is a series in which a writer shares what they want with who they want. Contributors tell us about the things they turn to as a way of explaining who they are—the works of art, articles of interests, or other tangible elements that they refer to and share with others as a way of getting to know and better understanding them. What book do you always give a new crush to better know you by, and why? What song changed the course of a friendship, and how? Our preferred word count is between 1200 to 1500 words, and the rate is $800USD.

Erogenous Zones is a series about exploring, interpreting, and appreciating the material, tactile, and sensual dimensions of pleasure. In it, contributors describe an action or event—like clubbing or cooking for loved ones, the feel of a shirt cuff on the wrist or the smell of a certain fragrance, being driven around in a fast car or collective sunsets—that brought them closer to the sensual, erotic, or sensory experience of being alive. Our preferred word count is between 1200 to 1500 words, and the rate is $800USD.

First Person is a series of autobiographical essays. We like to read about people discovering something new, or finding something new in what they thought they already knew; about relationships of all kinds, whether they’re intimate or distant, platonic or romantic, sexy or sweet—we especially love those dynamics that manage to encompass, at one point or another, all of the above; philosophical or theoretical musings on big themes and bigger feelings; an individual response to art and culture, whether that’s a particular work of art or entertainment, an artist’s oeuvre, a cultural trend, or even an entire genre or medium itself. Our preferred word count is between 1000-1500 words, and the starting rate is $800USD.

Anything else. We are also open to pitches that fall entirely outside of these parameters. Try us!

We occasionally publish original artwork as accompanying assets. If you’re an artist who would like to be considered for such an assignment, you can email [email protected]
