The Ask Feeld section on Feeld is dedicated to insightful, research-informed content that educates, illuminates, and inspires readers on topics that include gender, sexuality, kink, LGBTQIA+, dating, relationships, and self-discovery. Whether you are exploring new perspectives or deepening existing curiosities, this is the place for real stories, expert advice, and practical guidance designed to support and inspire our community.
Before pitching, we highly recommend that you check out some of our existing articles for inspiration regarding style, tone, and topics.
Here is everything you need to know to send us your ideas.
Start here:
We would love to see pitches from Feeld members—so if that’s you, please tell us! But really, everyone’s invited to pitch. Whether you’re LGBTQIA+, an ally, an educator, a kink enthusiast, a researcher, a creative, or just someone with something valuable to share, we want to hear your voice.
We welcome contributors of all experiences. Previously published writing is a plus, but not mandatory.
What we are looking for:
We want articles to be educational, insightful, and well-researched, but never didactic or prescriptive. We define educational as being advice-focused, grounded in trusted sources, studies, and/or including interviews with experts and members of the community. We also think that personal stories are a great way to share knowledge and experience.
Articles should be written in warm, inclusive, gender-neutral language, and be covered through a sex-positive lens. They should aim to help readers navigate relationships, sexuality, identity, kink, and self-discovery with clarity and confidence.
Articles typically run to around 1,500 words. Our preference for structure is distinct sections with clear headings to support easy reading and SEO. Where possible, please include quotes or insights from experts or people with lived experience to enhance credibility and engagement, or provide some examples of experts you think may be a good fit to reach out to for a comment or their insights.
Popular topics among our readers include:
- Gender identity, expression, and terminology
- Sexual orientation and fluidity
- Kink, consent, and communication
- Navigating dating, polyamory, boundaries, and relationship dynamics
- Mental health and wellbeing in queer and kink communities
- Intersectionality and social justice in gender, sex, and relationships
If your idea falls outside this list but aligns with the spirit of Feeld's community, please pitch it anyway. We love fresh and surprising ideas.
What to expect from our pitching process:
Before pitching, please check to see if your topic has already been covered on Feeld. If it has, consider what new angle or approach might work best for us.
We solicit and accept pitches on an ongoing basis. Deadlines will be provided by your editor upon acceptance of a pitch. If you have a time-sensitive story idea, please be sure to mention this in your email subject line.
Columns
We have a number of columns that we also accept pitches for. They include:
In A Week on Feeld, a Feeld member keeps a diary of their experiences during an uninterrupted week using Feeld. This series is intended to build an archive exploring what it’s really like to be a Feeld member. We’re looking for all kinds of members to write about all kinds of interactions and experiences. Submissions can be anonymous or under your own byline.
Feeld Guides are a series of informative and educational articles about a wide range of different topics that intersect with sex, sexuality, gender, health, wellness, community, labor, culture, and more. They provide some kind of tangible knowledge or suggested guidance, in a generous, open manner, about a subject of interest to the Feeld community. These articles involve a certain amount of research and reporting, whether that’s referencing trusted citations or performing interviews with relevant experts.
First Person is a series of autobiographical essays. We like to read about people discovering something new, or finding something new in what they thought they already knew; about relationships of all kinds, whether they’re intimate or distant, platonic or romantic, sexy or sweet—we especially love those dynamics that manage to encompass, at one point or another, all of the above; philosophical or theoretical musings on big themes and bigger feelings; an individual response to art and culture, whether that’s a particular work of art or entertainment, an artist’s oeuvre, a cultural trend, or even an entire genre or medium itself.
Compensation and publication:
All editorial work is published on Feeld's website, and may also be posted on our social media channels. We pay the same rates for all accepted work. All rates are starting points for negotiation. If you have questions or requests about compensation, please discuss them with us in your pitch.
Our starting rate is $800 USD per article, negotiable based on the scope and research involved. All accepted work is published on Feeld's website and is designed to reach a global audience. We aim to respond within three weeks. Please feel free to follow up if you have not heard from us by then.
Want to pitch something different?
If your idea is more personal, artistic, or creative rather than educational or advice-focused, it might be better suited to AFM, Feeld's editorial platform for essays, fiction, poetry, photography, and cultural storytelling. On Ask Feeld, we focus on educational, researched, and expert-led guidance, while AFM explores intimate, artistic, and conceptual expressions of connection.
For example, if you want to:
- Write a personal or autobiographical essay
- Share a photo essay or artwork portfolio
- Explore kink, identity, or desire in experimental or poetic forms
- Submit cultural criticism, poems, or creative nonfiction
Please head over to How to Pitch for AFM to learn more.
If you are not sure where your idea fits, please email us at [email protected], and we will help you find the right home.
How to submit your pitch:
Send your pitch to [email protected] with the subject line: Ask Feeld Pitch – [Your Topic]. Please include in the email:
- A brief overview of your article idea and why it matters to the Feeld community.
- Your connection or experience with the topic.
- Writing samples or links to previous work, if available.
- And remember to let us know if you are a Feeld member! It’s not a requirement, but we do offer a complimentary Majestic membership to any Feeld contributor who would like one; this can also be used on any paired accounts or in a Constellation.
