Looking after your sexual health is part of building connections that feel safe, informed, and enjoyable for all involved. For many people, knowing their HIV status is part of that care.
Whether you're living with HIV, have partner(s) who are HIV-positive, or simply want to stay informed about your sexual health, HIV testing can help you make more confident decisions about intimacy, protection, and care.
Today, HIV testing is a routine part of healthcare. Just another way of checking in with your wellbeing, similar to other sexual health screenings. Tests are quicker, easier to access, and more discreet than ever before. Thanks to modern treatment, HIV is now a manageable condition—but knowing your status is an important first step.
At Feeld, we believe sexual healthcare should be straightforward, well-informed, inclusive, and free from stigma. That’s why we’re proud to partner with organizations that provide free HIV testing for Feeld members in the U.K. and U.S., making it easier to access reliable testing, ordered straight to your door—and we hope to be able to roll this out to more areas soon.
How to get free HIV testing in the U.K. and U.S.
United States
We’ve partnered with Building Healthy Online Communities (BHOC) to offer free HIV home test kits for U.S. members, delivered discreetly to your door. Get your free kit today.
BHOC is a public health initiative that partners with dating apps, community organizations, and healthcare providers to improve access to sexual health services online.
The organization was founded in 2014 by public health leaders Dan Wohlfeiler and Jen Hecht, who together bring more than 50 years of experience in HIV and STI prevention. Their work brings dating platforms and public health organizations together to support HIV education, prevention, and testing resources for online communities.
Outside of ordering a home HIV test, you can find U.S. testing clinics on the CDC website, and free STI self-testing via TakeMeHome in select locations.
United Kingdom
In the U.K., we’ve partnered with The Love Tank CIC to provide free HIV test kits, delivered quickly and discreetly to your home. Order your free HIV test kit here.
The Love Tank is a London-based organization working to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved communities. Founded by the team behind the HIV advocacy platform PrEPster, the organization leads community-driven work around sexual health, including HIV prevention, education, and improving access to care. Their work brings together research, outreach, events, and public health partnerships to support underserved communities and help reduce stigma around HIV.
Through this partnership, Feeld members can access free HIV self-testing kits. To get started, you’ll complete a short online consultation so the clinical team can recommend the right service for you. Orders are usually assessed the same day, often within an hour, and your kit is sent quickly and discreetly. When your results are ready, you’ll be notified by text or email.
HIV testing in other locations
In locations outside the U.K. and U.S., you can find testing resources (including those that are free of charge) in BHOC’s global directory.
We hope to roll out our testing resources to more areas soon, and are continuing to connect with partners globally.

Why HIV testing matters
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It affects the immune system, which helps the body fight infections.
Without treatment, HIV can eventually lead to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the most advanced stage of the infection. However, medical advances over the past few decades have dramatically changed the outlook for people living with HIV. With modern treatment, many people living with the virus lead long, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
When someone living with HIV takes treatment consistently and reaches an undetectable viral load, the virus can't be passed on to sexual partners. This principle, known as U = U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), has helped reshape conversations about HIV and highlights the importance of testing and treatment.
Regular HIV testing is one of the simplest ways to stay informed about your sexual health. Knowing your status can help you access treatment early if needed, explore prevention options such as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), and make informed decisions with partners.
Many sexual health organizations recommend testing at least once a year if you're sexually active, and more frequently if you have new or multiple partners.

How HIV testing works
HIV tests detect signs of the virus in a blood sample, usually by identifying antibodies produced by the immune system in response to HIV, antigens (viral proteins), or both.
Testing can happen in several ways. Many clinics offer laboratory tests that involve a standard blood draw. Rapid tests use a small finger-prick blood sample and can deliver results in as little as 20 minutes. There are also at-home HIV testing kits, which may either provide results at home within minutes or involve sending a sample to a laboratory for processing, depending on the type of test. The kits available through Feeld’s partners in the U.K. and U.S. are designed for home use, with instructions included on how results are provided, and when follow-up testing may be needed.
One thing to be aware of is the window period, the time between possible exposure to HIV and when a test can reliably detect the virus. Testing too soon after exposure may not always detect HIV, which is why healthcare providers sometimes recommend repeat testing after a short period of time.
You can find more information on the different kinds of HIV tests, and more, in our guide to STI testing. Order your U.S. testing kit here, and U.K. test here.
