What are interests and desires on Feeld?

August 4th, 2025

Sharing what you enjoy is fundamental to making great connections on Feeld. But how do you differentiate between interests and desires?

What if we lived in a world where we could express our desires and interests openly right from the start? Connecting with others should be a positive, communicative process; a means of discovering more about our authentic selves, and honoring them.

The more clearly you express what moves you—what you’re curious about, what you crave—the more likely you are to find someone else who resonates with you. That’s why we’ve expanded how interests and desires work on Feeld, as part of our latest app update

With new features like shared desires, an expanded glossary, and enhanced search filters in your Discover feed, expressing what you’re into—whether that’s a hobby, curiosity, kink, or type of relationship—has become easier and more empowering. Interests and desires are ways for us to support this, giving you the tools to find meaningful connections based on what truly matters to you.

What’s the difference between interests and desires?

Both interests and desires allow you to communicate more about who you are and what you’re looking for, helping you to find other members who are into the same things.

On Feeld, interests refer to your hobbies, activities, and passions outside the bedroom—the things that bring you joy and curiosity in daily life. You can type anything you want into this field, whether it’s hiking, meditation, art, or even bad reality TV. Interests give others a fuller picture of who you are as a person but, unlike desires, they aren’t used to filter your search.

Desires, on the other hand, express what you’re looking for in intimacy, connection, and exploration—whether that’s sensual, sexual, romantic, platonic, or rooted in curiosity. These are chosen from a set of ever-expanding options in the app, and can be used to filter your search and find connections aligned with your preferences.

There are currently 30+ desires to choose from, which fall into seven main categories:

But that’s not all. Head to your profile to edit it—or set up a new one—to see the full range of desires you can choose from.

How can interests and desires help your dating experience?

They’re more than profile fields, they’re invitations. They allow you to be real about what you’re into, and to meet people who feel the same.

These features can help you discover members who are on a similar journey to you, whether you’re seeking a partner for deep conversation, a group for shared experiences, someone to explore a specific kink with, or simply people who align with your worldview and passions.

They also give you the space and possibility to reflect on your own wants, needs, and curiosities. The question “What do you desire?” might seem simple on the surface, but it can be disconcerting when we really think about it. What, actually, do we desire in a world full of a whole spectrum of possibilities? What could we desire, given the opportunity? It can feel dizzying and intimidating, but also liberating.

Ultimately, interests and desires can help you feel seen, and help you see others more fully too.

For many people, attraction and connection are more than just physical. Feeling drawn to someone is part of a larger picture. Being able to give others a more detailed sense of who you are and what you’re into, or curious about, helps that larger picture feel like more than just a sketch.

How to use desires on Feeld

Filling out your desires

If you’re only just embarking on a journey of discovering what you want, as so many of us are, it’s alright to take it slowly. You don’t have to go straight in with a major kink or feel pressured to know everything about the scene.

In fact, one of the most common desires on Feeld is simply “dates,” and many people also list desires like cuddling, connection, and intimacy. Whether you’re here for romance, friendship, learning, or sensual exploration, it’s all valid.

If you want to explore other dynamics, perhaps start off by thinking about whether you’re submissive, dominant, neither, or a little of both. You might also consider whether you’re interested in couples, singles, everyone, or just making new connections. Even if you decide that, for now, you’re simply here to connect platonically and see where conversations go, that is as valid as any other desire.

We shouldn’t feel pressure to perform, or push our own boundaries and sense of comfort before we’re ready. Discovering what you want is a marathon, not a sprint—a lifelong process of revelation, curiosity, and playfulness, if we let it be so.

Shared desires

When desires overlap, magic happens. With the launch of Feeld’s newest app redesign, any desire that you have listed on your own profile will now automatically be highlighted on other people’s profiles as a shared desire.

Shared desires are a simple yet powerful way to see where you and someone else align. Perhaps you’re both looking for dates, a particular kink, a type of group exploration, or simply a specific kind of connection. Seeing your shared desires at a glance can help you quickly assess compatibility and give you a starting point for conversation—something tangible to explore together from the outset.

Searching for desires

Desires and interests are visible to all users. You can filter your Discover feed by desires, helping you find profiles that match what you’re into more easily. The filter function is easy to find, simple to adjust as you go, and designed to disappear as you scroll so that the focus stays on connection.Free members can filter by a curated set of top desires, while Majestic members enjoy access to the full selection, allowing for a more tailored search. If you are a Majestic member, you can also filter your Pings and Likes by these desires, enabling you to connect more easily with those who are looking for what you’re looking for.

Perhaps you’re into a particular niche or are currently focused on one aspect of exploration. Whatever your reasoning, it’s possible to get a little strategic with your search, should you so wish.

Glossary cards

Language around identity, desire, and connection is always evolving—that’s why we have the Feeld glossary, a space for curious minds to explore clear, thoughtful definitions, and deepen their understanding of themselves and others.

With our new redesign, we’ve introduced glossary cards. You can now tap and hold any desire (as well as sexualities and gender identities) while creating or editing your profile to instantly see its definition. This makes it easier to express yourself confidently and explore openly. If you’re browsing profiles and come across a term you want to know more about, you can use the tap and hold feature there too.

The full glossary is also available on our website, offering a rich collection of terms, guides, interviews, and real stories from the Feeld community to support you throughout your journey.

Since meanings can vary from person to person, glossary cards encourage learning at your own pace and help foster authentic, respectful connections.

Learning from the desires of others

One of the best ways to gain inspiration for filling out your desires section is to take note of what others list in their profiles. This has practical benefits, helping you to discover the meanings behind words and acronyms that others use. But you might also find that it sparks your own intrigue around practices or elements of identity that you might not have considered before.

The desires of others can teach us a lot, too; they can remind us of the importance of respect, inclusivity, and open-mindedness. Recognizing that not everybody is into what we are into is actually a beautiful thing, if you think about it—our wants are multiple, and the sheer range of the possibilities to be explored is exciting. Just be respectful—and stay curious.

Open the Feeld app to start exploring desires. Your next great connection could be just a filter away.
