Language is fluid, just like desire and expression. At Feeld, we know the ways we describe our identities, sexualities, and connections are always evolving. That’s why we have the Feeld glossary: a place for curious minds to discover different definitions, new perspectives, and deepen their understanding of themselves and others.
You might have seen a term in someone’s bio on Feeld, heard it in conversation, or come across it while reading an article. Whether you’re exploring dating, gender, sexuality, or kink for the first time, or deepening an existing curiosity, the glossary is here to guide and support you—wherever you’re at in your journey. And with Feeld’s recent app redesign, we now have tappable glossary cards inside the app, making it even easier to learn as you go.
So, what is the glossary, how does it work, and how can you make the most of it?
When setting up your profile, you can choose the sexuality, gender, and desires (including kinks and relationship styles) that feel right for you. You can also filter your search by genders and desires, in order to make the most meaningful connections. With over 20 options in each category, there are many ways to express who you are and what you’re looking for. Don’t worry—these can be updated anytime as your language or experiences evolve.
With the launch of Feeld’s latest app update, we’ve introduced glossary cards. Whenever you see a relevant term—relating to a desire, sexuality, or gender identity—while creating or adding to your profile, or browsing the profiles of other folks, simply tap and hold it to instantly see its definition. This makes it easier to express yourself confidently and explore openly, whilst deepening your understanding of yourself and others.
You can explore the glossary on Feeld’s website by clicking “Glossary” in the “Discover more” section at the bottom of the site. Browse the full list of terms or simply click on a word to view its definition and discover related content that goes deeper. You might also notice glossary-linked words within our articles as you read. Clicking any of these terms will take you straight to its definition and further resources.
Each glossary entry is linked to a wealth of related content on our website. You’ll find how-to guides for navigating dating, relationships, sexuality, and self-discovery; interviews and insights from experts; and roundtables and surveys sharing real experiences from Feeld members. There’s also AFM (Feeld’s magazine), filled with inspiring features, interviews, and first-person essays exploring desire, identity, connection, and more.
Whether you’re supporting a partner, reflecting on your own desires, or simply feeling curious, these resources offer real stories, practical advice, and expert perspectives to inspire and guide you.
The language we use to describe ourselves is never fixed. It grows as we grow. The key to meaningful connection is understanding others—and caring enough to understand them deeply. While these definitions are clear, researched, and thoughtfully written, it’s worth remembering that words can mean different things to different people. If you and someone you’re connecting with feel comfortable, it can be powerful to ask what certain terms mean to them personally.
As always, Feeld invites you to stay open, stay curious, and keep discovering who you are—solo and together. While we offer a wealth of resources, we also encourage exploration beyond our app. Many of our guides include links to charities, organizations, and helplines, so you can find the support you need, in your own time.
Ready to find out more? Head to the Feeld app to connect with open-minded folks who are just as curious as you are.
